CAS relies on donations, volunteers and participating adopters/fosterers. There is a base of volunteers in Bandar Seri Begawan and another in Kuala Belait. CAS is a fully registered NGO. CAS core activities are;
1. Rescue of abandoned puppies and other “at risk” or injured animals 2. Stray feeding program; strays are fed in-situ at their locality 3. Stray sterilisation program; dogs and cats are sterilised so that they cannot add to the suffering of puppies and kittens born as strays in Brunei 4. Adoption of rescued cats and dogs; to approved homes. CAS has many cats and dogs up for adoption. Animals are given to approved homes only and CAS has a policy of “no caging” and “no chaining”. Females must be speyed or sterilised when reaching the maturity. All animals are fully vaccinated, clean and tick and flea free. Adult dogs available for adoption are usually already sterilised. 5. Long term foster plan; this is for adult dogs. The dog will go to an approved fosterer on a long term basis. For example if a newly arrived expat in Brunei wants to have a dog but doesn’t want to take it home when they leave then they can apply for a CAS long term adoption of an adult dog. When the expat leaves Brunei they return the dog to CA - unless of course they have changed their mind and wish to take the dog to their home country. 6. Short term foster; this is for puppies. While CAS is waiting for a puppy to find it’s “forever” home, foster homes are considered as a short term option so that the puppy can be familiarised with the outside world and a family environment. If an adoption home comes up for the pup then it must go back to CAS for the adoption. Short term foster is for a pre- arranged period of time from 2 weeks onwards. CAS relies on volunteers. If anyone wants to help, even in a small way, please contact CAS via email or the following sites. Any donation, small or large is accepted with gratitude. Basically if want to help CAS make a difference then do not hesitate to contact CAS. We need you! How can you help? Pick up donated food. Pick up donated newspapers. Help feed the strays. Help with fund raising activities. Help socialise strays and care for them. Help find adoption homes and help with screening potential adopters. Help find foster homes and screening of potential foster homes. Help through donate of items for fund raising sales days (clothes, books, DVD’s, etc). Help by donating cash for food and supplies for rescued or stray animals and vet bills.
